My Maps is an app where the user can take an image of a map of any kind and then geographically place that map image onto a Google map. The phones GPS can then be used in order to get the device’s current location displayed onto the users own map.
I came up with the idea when I was out fishing one day. I had to compare a map image displaying the depth areas of the lake I was fishing in with the Google Map in my phone, and had to switch between the Image and the Google map over and over again in order to figure out if I was at the right position or not.
But you don’t have to be a fisherman to have good use of this App. Lets say you are building a house and want to get a feeling of the space inside the house. Then you can just place the blue prints of the house on to the map where you want to put it up and have a walk around on top of your blue print.
And of course If you are a modern pirate, this app is perfect if you want to mix technology with your grandpas old treasure map. 😉
The App is not yet released on Google Play Store. But if you want to try it out, it’s available on Github
